Thuruthipuram , a small historic village is just 2km from Kottappuram Fort and historic Muziris market.
It is a border village between Ernakulam and Thrissur districts.
Being surrounded by the river on three sides,the place is famous for Thurthipuram boat race.
The village is also well known for Latin Catholic classical art 'Chavittunadakam'.
The village is situated in Ernakulam district and can be accessed by Kottappuram- Thuruthipuram bridge from Kodungallur.
A ferry service is also available from North Paravur.
The village is 4km away from Puthenvelikkara and 13km from Mala.
Chalakudy is 25km east.
It is located 33km north of Kakkanad, the Ernakulam district headquarters.

Thuruthipuram is the place of first Roman Catholic group of Archdiocese viz. Verapoly.
It became the part of newly formed Kottapuram Diocese in 1987 AD.
