The church is located in Convent Road, Mananchira, Kozhikode. It is around 1.3 km north west of Kozhikode(Calicut) Railway Station.

The church was first built by Zamorin, King of Calicut, in year 1599 under the supervision of Rev. Frs. Francis Acosta S.J and Antonio Scippan. A renovation and extension of the church were done by in 1724 by the Zamorin of Calicut under the supervision of of Rev. Fr. Bernardo DA SA.
A major renovation took place in year 2008 and 2009 under the supervision of Rev. Fr. M.J.Marceline, and the new church was rededicated and inaugurated on October 29, 2009 by Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Kalathiparambil, the Bishop of Calicut.
